Bodrum and the Greek island of Patmos are stepping up cooperation in tourism, culture and maritime activity. Patmos Mayor Nikitas Tsampalakis and his delegation visited Bodrum during the Bodrum Boat Show (14–18 October 2026) at the invitation of the IMEAK Chamber of Shipping Bodrum branch.

During the show, Patmos was promoted on large digital screens around Bodrum's harbour and busy central areas, showcasing the island's natural beauty to local and international visitors. Both sides agreed the promotion should continue through July and August, when visitor numbers peak.

The programme continued at the Greek Consulate General in Izmir, where talks covered friendship between the two shores of the Aegean, joint promotion, sea transport links and cultural events as possible areas of cooperation.

"Bodrum and Patmos share the same sea, a common cultural heritage and a deep history," said Galip Gür, the Bodrum tourism figure who coordinated the contacts. For visitors, it could mean richer island-hopping options and more reasons to explore the Aegean in a single trip.
