Bodrum, one of Turkey's most renowned tourist destinations, is experiencing an unprecedented extension of its tourism season as foreign visitors continue to arrive even during the traditionally quiet winter months.
According to Ömer Faruk Dengiz, President of the Bodrum Hoteliers Association (BODER), the resort town welcomed 948,000 foreign tourists via air and sea routes in the first nine months of the year. What's particularly remarkable is that tourism activity continues well beyond the traditional summer season.
The period from September 15 to October 15, known as Bodrum's 'golden autumn,' has shown exceptional performance with hotel occupancy rates reaching 85% in October. This extended season benefits from direct winter flights from Germany to Bodrum, while flights from the UK are also scheduled to continue during the winter months, similar to last year.
This development represents a significant shift in Turkey's tourism landscape, where coastal destinations traditionally close during winter months. Bodrum's ability to maintain international visitor flow year-round positions it as a pioneering destination in extending Turkey's tourism season and maximizing economic benefits for the local community.
